The second monthly gathering of the Mahasandhi Centre, where practitioners and members of the centre come to meet their community’s spiritual needs and help in keeping traditional heritage alive, took place. In the monthly gathering, traditional mountain smoke and feast offerings are offered to deities and the dharma protectors by the participants, thus creating bonding and a sense of community towards a higher being. This is a regular spiritual practice open to all in the community.
After offerings, there was space for a monthly discussion on preliminary practices in a supportive group setting. Participants further unpacked core Buddhist ideas and meditation practices to lay down a good foundation for deeper spiritual practice and community involvement. Although the discussion is open to anyone from the community who is interested in Buddhism, it might be advisable for new participants to first attend some of the previous introductory sessions.
One of the major goals of this organization is to promote mental well-being. Conferences like this, besides their cultural significance, serve as a stepping stone for Dzogchen meditation—the foundation of mental well-being in times to come.
