This morning, Khenpo Sangay Tenzin, the new resident lama, was warmly welcomed to the Mahasandhi Centre in Perth with a Zhugdrel Phunsum Tshogpa (traditional ceremony) followed by offering of the khadar.
Khenpo Sangay Tenzin is a serious devotee of His Holiness Gangteng Truelku Rinpoche, from Mongar Aja Ney in Bhutan. He took to the monastic path for his whole life in 1997 at Gangteng Goenpa, where he studied under the guidance of His Holiness Gangteng Rinpoche.
Khenpo Sangay Tenzin holds a Master’s degree in Buddhist philosophy and further assumed the roles of a teacher and head in various monasteries. His spiritual career encompasses the three rigorous years of retreat known as Losum Chok Sum under the supreme guidance of His Holiness Gangteng Rinpoche. He has even been the Principal of Chali Monastery and Chaskhar Ugyen Do-Nga Choekhor Shedrupling, and an instructor for retreats at Tsakaling Drubdey.
With a lifetime of experience and deep spiritual knowledge, Khenpo Sangay Tenzin will now assume the position of spiritual advisor and instructor at the Mahasandhi Centre, offering his time and knowledge voluntarily. His coming, therefore, opens up new prospects for the Centre and thus makes possible guidance and support where Gangteng Truelku Rinpoche was no longer present. It is, therefore, with the greatest excitement that the Mahasandhi community welcomes him and looks toward his leadership in the months ahead.
